Who hasn’t stood in front of the mirror with a sigh, discovering a new pimple or a deeper wrinkle? For many women, it’s an everyday occurrence. The cause? Familiar factors: naturally, the passage of time, but also our hectic lifestyles, stress, sometimes an unbalanced diet, and above all, our greatest enemy: the sun.
UV radiation significantly weakens our skin and accelerates the loss of collagen and elasticity. The result: the skin becomes thinner, less smooth, and pigmentation disorders such as the familiar brown spots can appear. Fortunately, it’s never too late to care for your skin and restore its natural radiance.
Why do these spots appear?
Spots that appear with age, especially on the hands, are often called brown spots or age spots. Their scientific name is solar lentigines. They are mainly caused by repeated sun exposure over the years. It’s almost as if the skin remembers every single UV ray it has been exposed to… and after a while, this becomes visible.
These spots appear particularly when melanin production (the natural skin pigment) becomes irregular. The sun stimulates melanin production, but over time, the melanin accumulates in certain areas, forming these flat, brown spots of varying sizes. We often see them on our hands because we forget to protect these areas, even though they are exposed to the sun daily.
The natural aging process also plays a role. The skin becomes thinner, more sensitive, and regenerates less effectively. While this is not dangerous in itself, if a spot changes (shape, color, texture), it should be examined.
Good news: There are treatment methods to reduce these spots, and simple measures to prevent them!
The secret of the house: Three ingredients that work together to create radiant skin.
