How Diet Can Cause Fishy Smell in Your Intimate Areas – and What to Do About It

It’s a topic rarely discussed, but one that many women find troubling: a slightly overly intense intimate odor, sometimes described as “fishy,” can become a source of embarrassment and self-doubt. But what if your diet is the real culprit? Before you start worrying or increasing your use of perfumed products, take a break: this discomfort can often be gently and naturally corrected by simply paying attention to what you eat.

Foods that can intensify intimate odors

Some foods, no matter how delicious, leave marks… even in intimate areas. Here are the main suspects: 

  1. Oily fish and seafood

Eating salmon, tuna, or mackerel is good for omega-3s, but   if consumed in excess  , they can also enrich body secretions with odorous compounds like trimethylamine. The result is a fishy odor. This isn’t dangerous, but   it can be unpleasant  .

  1. Products rich in sulfur

Garlic, onions, broccoli, cauliflower… All of these foods are good for your health, but they contain sulfur, a compound that, once metabolized by the body, can produce a rather strong odor. This odor can be released through sweat, breath, and even vaginal discharge.

  1. Sugar and ultra-processed products

It’s no longer a secret: a diet too high in   processed sugars   disrupts the vaginal flora. By promoting the growth of bad bacteria or yeast, it disrupts the balance, leading to minor infections… and unpleasant odors.
